These pages are dedicated to the memory of
Shirenewton Local History Society
The Shirenewton Local History Society was started in 2001 after a course run by Annette Burton of the Cardiff University Centre for Lifelong Learning on Old Shirenewton uncovered a huge potential interest of local people in the history of Shirenewton.
The society hopes to promote interest in the history, geography and architecture of Shirenewton and its immediate surrounding parishes. The society is currently collecting photographic, oral and written information and copies of this data and any published works will be held in its data resource centre (temporarily to be held in the village school, but it is hoped that there will be a more accessible library elsewhere eventually). Money to help set up this resource centre has been provided in part by a grant from Monmouthshire County Council.
